Tomatoes APIZZA Pizza Review #2

I was looking forward to this place as it is a thin crust pizza place that sits in metro Detroit, a town known for its thick pizza. The first thing that I took notice of was when I picked up the pizza and it was a very nice open oven with coals burning hot on the right side of the oven. They seem to be doing it right here and I can appreciate that.

The sauce was fresh, it seemed as though a can had not gone through the owners mind when making this sauce. There was some subtle spice in the sauce but nothing that overpowered the fresh tomatoes. The dough was very chewy but the crust had a crisp to it every bite. The fresh cheese was a nice surprise in the bites that did have it, adding a rich taste and good pull. The bites that didn’t still had some of that fantastic sauce. The cherry peppers that I added to the pizza were not like those peppers you would normally get from a chain pizza place. They had flavor, I mean actual flavor with them and in some bites took over the pizza, something I was not complaining about. They had a good acidity to them and heat was added to the pizza because of them and only them.

Overall the pizza was very good with notes of freshness and flavor that only comes from a place willing to step out from the cans and processed ingredients and create their own magic with whole ingredients. Worth a drive to find one of the locations and eat the pie there or get some for takeout, just be prepared to pay an arm and a leg.

Fresh Mozzarella- Red Sauce, Fresh Mozzarella and Basil (added Cherry Peppers)

8.7/10

No those aren’t pickles, those are the Cherry Peppers

As you can see the cheese is not in every bite

Fresh basil is nice on a pizza

Crust was crispy but there was a nice chew

Birds eye view of the very good Pizza
